DATA SHEET

The Model FT5040 DIN-Rail Transmitter provides an isolated DC voltage or current output proportional to a 4/20mAdc input. Designed to isolate and convert signals from 2-wire (loop-powered) transmitters, it includes a regulated 24Vdc input loop supply.

A rugged NEMA 4X splashproof, corrosion-resistant housing protects the transmitter in outdoor and industrial environments. The circuit boards are urethane coated for protection against condensation and contaminants. Model FDT5040 includes a 3-1/2 digit user-rangeable display to provide local process indication in engineering units.

Other input ranges are possible. For example, the FT/FDT5040 may be used with DC-powered "3-wire" sensors and transmitters whose supply currents do not exceed 25mA. Input/output isolation overcomes the ground loop problems sometimes encountered with nonisolated DC-powered transmitters.

Available options include AC and DC power choices and reverse-acting transmitter (decreasing output with increasing input).

ORDERING INFORMATION

Model Numbers:

FT5040: Transmitter only. FDT5040: Transmitter with display.

Power:

Add suffix A (Model FT/FDT5040A) for AC power, D for DC power. Specify 115Vac, 230Vac, 12Vdc or 24Vdc.

Input Range:

Select 4/20mA for use with 2-wire inputs, or any other range allowed by the "Input Capabilities" spec, below.

Output Range:

Specify any DC voltage or current range allowed by the "Output Capabilities" spec, below.

Display Range (optional)

Specify display reading at low end and at full scale, including decimal point if required. See "Display Capabilities" specification, below. Note that reverse-acting display is possible - full scale reading downscale from low end. Display may be re-ranged by user.

Reverse-Acting Transmitter (decreasing output with increasing input)

Change model number to FT/FDT5041(A or D).

Loop-Powered Output:

4/20mA "current sink" output stage for connection to devices whose inputs provide 24Vdc loop excitation. Change model number to FT/FDT5042(A or D).

Conduit Connection:

Standard: A single 1/2 inch NPT conduit fitting (glass-fiber reinforced nylon) is provided at the bottom of the housing. Other options are possible, including no fitting at all. Contact factory

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

Connections are made to 8 terminals within the enclosure:

1: Input plus.
2: Input minus.
3: +24Vdc loop excitation.
4: No connection.
5: Output plus.
6: Output minus.
7: Power (AC or, if DC power option, DC plus).
8: Power (AC or, if DC power option, DC minus).
